Connect Again Psychotherapy specializes in healing from parental narcissism and emotionally immature families

Do you have a complicated relationship with a parent but don’t know why?

Do you feel anxious in your relationships? Romantic or otherwise?

Do you feel fatigue or anxiety at the thought of figuring out what is you want or desire?

Are you perfectionistic, goal-driven, only to feel dissatisfied when you meet your goals?

Do you struggle to fully trust others?

Do you struggle to be vulnerable and avoid intimacy?

Do you live inside your head?

Are you struggling with navigating a chronic illness of a parent or family member and don’t know why?

Do you feel intense guilt and obligation in a relationship with someone close, and subsequently shame yourself for having these emotions?

Through boundaries, awareness, and compassion, comes peace.

For years I wondered why certain insecurities and anxieties wouldn’t go away and why I struggled so much with the same neurotic, over-thinking patterns in my relationships. I met all of my professional goals, only to realize that I had no idea what to do next, because I had no idea what I wanted. It wasn’t until I faced certain truths about the dynamics in my own family that I finally found freedom, and then peace. The real freedom came from taking responsibility and practicing curiosity, rather than assigning blame to anyone.

I help people understand parental narcissism from a standpoint of empathy and personal responsibility. I believe understanding how personality structure and it’s impact on parenting transcends generations and recognizing one’s own unhealthy patterns can help heal wounds we may not even have been fully aware of.

Hi! And Welcome to Connect Again Psychotherapy

My name is Isolde and I live and work in Porto, Portugal and hail from many places—including Mexico, Cascais, East Hampton, and Austin. Before opening my private practice I worked as a forensic psychotherapist in New York City, where I assessed and treated criminal offenders for re-offense prevention and rehabilitation post incarceration.

I attended Columbia University in New York City where I received a Masters in Education and a Masters in Counseling. I earned my Bachelors in Psychology at Chatham University, an all-women’s college in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where I met a group of women who have become lifelong sisters.

I am currently licensed in both New York and Texas and see clients virtually and in person in my office in Porto. I also work as a consultant for organizations looking for advisement and guidance on difficult interpersonal issues in the workplace. In addition to seeing individuals, I offer marriage and couples counseling as a part of my practice; I am certified in Emotionally-Focused Couples Therapy or EFT-C, through the International Institute for Emotion Focused Therapy.

You can book a free consultation below, whether you are looking to understand and heal from someone narcissistic in your life, or simply beginning therapy for the first time, I look forward to meeting you!

And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.

Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy

I am a certified Emotionally-Focused Couples therapist through the International Society for Emotionally-Focused Couples Therapy.

EFT-C is an empirically validated approach that has been tested in hundreds of studies with consistent results—similar to the Gottman Method.

The difference with EFT-C is that couples are challenged to examine what challenging cycles have been present often from the beginning of the relationship, without realizing it. We’ll process whatever deeper emotions are being held back in order to help you get to the next step in your relationship.

Common reasons couples seek EFT-C:

infidelity
emotional disconnection
sexual dissatisfaction
lack of intimacy
strengthening the relationship
making a commitment or walking away
